Zirconia implants offer a metal-free option for selected patients replacing a missing tooth. Candidacy and planning come first.
An implant replaces the root portion of a missing tooth and supports a restoration. Ceramic implants are typically made from zirconia, a tooth-colored ceramic. At Bruno Integrative Dentistry, we offer zirconia implants as a metal-free replacement option.
An implant plan considers the restoration as well as the implant itself: the available space, surrounding teeth, gum appearance, and how the teeth meet all matter. A material preference is part of the conversation, but it cannot determine candidacy on its own.
Dr. Candace Bruno evaluates oral and medical history, bone and gum health, relevant anatomy, and the condition of the missing-tooth site. Appropriate imaging may be needed. Active disease, inadequate bone, smoking, certain medications, or other health factors can affect the plan and the risks.
Some patients need treatment or additional healing before an implant can be considered. Immediate placement is not suitable for every extraction site. If a tooth has not yet been removed, our surgical dental evaluation helps connect the extraction decision with replacement planning.
Zirconia and titanium have different clinical histories, designs, and material properties. Choosing ceramic does not mean titanium implants are inherently unsafe, and no implant material guarantees success or compatibility for everyone. Individual anatomy, treatment requirements, and the evidence for the proposed system should be discussed.
Our existing ceramic versus titanium implant article provides background for that conversation. For the broader restoration plan, visit restorative dentistry.
Implant care generally involves planning, placement, a healing period, and the final restoration, with timing tailored to the site and procedure. Risks include infection, failure to integrate, damage to nearby structures, and later bone or gum problems. We review the individual benefits, alternatives, and risks before treatment.
Implants still need careful home cleaning and professional follow-up. Tell us about clenching or jaw symptoms; an implant does not treat those conditions. We consider jaw function and relevant airway concerns as separate parts of comprehensive care.
Zirconia is a ceramic material used for metal-free implant options. Ask which implant and restorative components are proposed in your individual plan.
The estimate depends on the site, imaging, preparation, any additional procedures, implant system, and restoration. An examination is needed before an accurate quote.
No. Candidacy depends on the clinical and medical findings. Other replacement options or specialist assessment may be more appropriate.
