Breathing, sleep, oral development, and jaw function belong in the same conversation. Dr. Candace Bruno brings an airway focus to comprehensive dental care.
Comprehensive care with an airway focus in North Austin.
Airway dentistry considers how oral anatomy and function relate to breathing and sleep. At Bruno Integrative Dentistry in North Austin, Dr. Candace Bruno reviews your dental concerns alongside sleep history, breathing patterns, jaw symptoms, and relevant medical information. The goal is to identify useful next steps, rather than fit every patient into the same treatment.
You might seek an airway dentist in Austin because of habitual snoring, mouth breathing, unrefreshing sleep, tooth wear, or a concern about a child’s development. These symptoms can have several causes. A dental evaluation helps assess oral findings and determine when a sleep clinician, ENT, orthodontist, or other provider should be involved.
Airway care is central to our integrative dental approach. It also complements biological dentistry: careful diagnosis, conservative treatment, and attention to the person behind the teeth.

Discuss breathing, sleep quality, snoring, daytime symptoms, medical conditions, prior treatment, and your goals.
Assess relevant dental and jaw findings, oral habits, and anatomy. Imaging is considered when it can answer a clinical question.
Suspected sleep apnea needs medical evaluation and appropriate sleep testing. Nasal obstruction or developmental concerns may need other clinicians.
Discuss dental care and referrals based on findings, then monitor progress with the appropriate members of your care team.
Understand dental screening, the role of a sleep study, and coordinated treatment decisions.
Assess jaw pain, locking, muscle discomfort, or tooth wear without assuming they all have one cause.
Learn why persistent snoring deserves discussion with your child’s pediatrician and dental team.

Dr. Bruno provides comprehensive dental evaluation and care with attention to airway concerns. Our approach includes a referral network for ENT evaluation, myofunctional therapy, and airway-focused orthodontics. Those outside services are coordinated when appropriate; we do not imply that all are performed in our office.
A dental scan can show anatomy, but it cannot independently diagnose sleep apnea or tell us how well you breathe throughout the night. A sleep study and medical interpretation help answer that question. Similarly, mouth breathing may reflect nasal obstruction, habits, or other issues, and it should be evaluated in context.
Adults and children need different assessment pathways. For children, concerns about habitual snoring, breathing, or development should involve the pediatrician and appropriate specialists. Expansion, tongue procedures, or exercises are not automatic recommendations and should not be presented as guaranteed cures.
For adults, bring any prior sleep-study results, CPAP information, and appliance history. Our guide to CPAP alternatives explains how other options may fit into medical care. If you have been prescribed treatment, continue it while discussing changes with your clinician.
Airway considerations can also inform appointment planning and the evaluation of worn teeth. Explore restorative care, cosmetic dentistry, and surgical dental care for their own clinical indications. Those procedures are not substitutes for diagnosing or treating a sleep disorder.
No. Airway-focused dental care considers oral anatomy and function in the context of breathing and sleep. Medical diagnosis and management of sleep disorders require the appropriate medical clinicians, with dental care coordinated where relevant.
A dental evaluation can identify relevant oral findings and help determine whether an ENT, sleep clinician, or myofunctional therapist should be involved. Treatment depends on the cause; mouth breathing alone does not establish a diagnosis.
Our practice considers airway and development in family dental care. Children with habitual snoring or breathing concerns may need coordinated assessment with their pediatrician and other qualified providers.
No individual dental treatment can be promised to cure every case of apnea. Diagnosis, severity, medical factors, treatment selection, and objective follow-up matter.
